' . London, June 6, The Standard says that Federation has been badly defeated in New South Wales, but the cause, is not dead. Sooner or later Federation must come. The voting showed that the, populace were apathetic.
Paris, June 5. Debate says that the result of the Australian Federal referendum voting means a delay of 10 or 20 years in the fedtration of the Australian colonies.
Sydney, Jure 7. . A Cabinet meeting was held to-day to consider the Government policy in regard to federation.
Mr Beid will address a meeting at Bodulla on Wednesday, when he will disclose his intentions.
•The Premiers of the southern colonies decline to state whether they will proceed with federation without New South Wales, till the Mother Country makes the next move. '
