. London, June 6. A difficulty has arisen in connection with the proposed appointment of Colonel Gordon, commandant of the South ! Australian defence forces now visiting England, as military adviser to the New South Wales • Government and inspector of warlike stores for the Australasian colonies.
The Queensland Government favors Lieut.-Colonel Baker (who was temporarily appointed upon the death of Lieut-Colonel : Harman, the late Inspector) continuing to hold office. New Zeal .nd supports'the appointment of Major TJrquhart, an official attached to the Woolwich Arsenal.
