MOANATAIABI. . Excellent progress has been made with the works to connect the No. 3 Caledonian level with the No. 4 level. The draining of the water from the shaft is being successfully passed off to ihe former level, thus enabling the work of development to be carried out expeditiously, 'J'he main tunnel'level in operation is now penetrating a more congenial class of country, which allows of much speedier progress bein'g effected. • . ■ ' CLUB..
Very good progress is being made with the advancement of the drive upon the course of the reef .at the No. 1 level, but latterly a poor description of country has been wet with on the hangjngwall, whioh is very much disturbed in character, and in consequence of this unsettled state the lode has diminished very much in size. The manager, however, anticipates an improvement as the work advances. With the object of determining this lcie's correct value and-character, it has been decided that a lower lovel must be driven to intersect the quartz body at a point where more solid country >vill bo met with. It will also enable operations to be conducted in any I direction.
GOLDEN BAND (TATO). Excelleut'progress is being. cffectcd with this company's low level crosscut and latterly a most favourable class of country has been entered upon, in fact the manager says that he has never wen a better description of country for gold. A very promising leader has ■been passed through containing good minerals. According to ho bearings of this, and the largo reef met with on the surface there is every, probability of their forming a junction about 40 feet to the. south of the crosscut, when there is every promise of something of iin auriferous character coming to hand, especially' if this present good class of country continues for.vard to the lodes. The low level has attained, a.total length of 133 feet since commenping. It will thus bo seen that iho work in hand has so far advanced .a-considerable length.
