■ A miner namod oMnrteil had a sonRational experience at Bombola. He was walking through ft tunnel when the 'earth collapsed ai'ul completely buried him. Fortunately a crack in the earth admitted air, and hcmanaged with u puckot knife to clear the dirt from Ilia mouth sufficiently to allow him lo breathe. Ho was ponned in this position fur twwity-i'our or twentysix hours, and his sufferings weroso great thatiw several times unsuccessfully attempted (o!cut'his throat with the! pocket knife, Two : sons, who were searching for their father, walked on to tho heap of earth and'ho managed to attract their attention. Having obtained assistance the man was rescued from his perilous position aiid is now recovering.
