PARLIAMENTARY NEWS.
(BY TJXKOKANI.—OWN L'UKRKSrOSDENT.) Wejlington, August 12. The Auckland members of both Houses entertained at a'diuner at Bellamy's the Auckland members of the County and Educational Conference now in Wellington. Sir M. O'Rorkc was in the chair. Tho Hons, J, McKonzic, A. J, Cadman, and J. Carroll were present, and lengthy speeches were made. It is rumoured that the Bank is pressing the Government to introduce legislation enabling their properties to be taken over, receiving debentures bearing small interest. Threats are made that unless something is done the Bank will be again in difficulties. TholTon Mr Cadman is preparing tho Estimates, in which the Thames district will fare very well. Tho County Conference is disappointing in its results, It is said the absence of copies of the new Government Bill is the cause,
