(Per Pies* Association.) Wellington, August 10. . At the County Council Conference Mr Grimmond said the Premier stated the Local Government Bill will not 1 e ready before Friday and he could not give the Conference an advance copy before the Bill was introduced to the House. Mr McNab'moved that with a view to afford local bodies immediate relief the Government be asked to amend the Counties Act to enable local bodies to borrow money and pay off overdrafts, also that as soon as local bodies shall have paid oil an overdraft it shall not be lawful to incur new-liabilities : as overdrafts which shall at any time exceed the amount of anticipated revenue at that particular time. As all the members had not arrived the debate was adjourned until Tuesday. The Conference was adjourned.
