Another enthusiastic cricketer has left the Thames for" fresh fields and pastures now." Mt J, Hunter has been removed by the Telegraph authorities to Blenheim. His removal will be a loss to Tararu.
I understand that Mr G Steedman is expected back shortly, and will probably be available for Tararu next season.
At the last annual meeting of the M. O. C. the following resolution was passed: —" The attention of the committee hav- . ing been called to the practice which . I still obtains with certain batsmen obstructing the ball with their legs with- : . out attempting to nse the bat, they' desire to circulate the resolution nnanimously adopted by the general meeting of 1888 as follows:' That the practice of deliberately defending the wicket with person instead of with the bat is contrary to the spirit of the game, and inconsistent with strict fairness, and the M. 0. C. will discountenance and prevent the practice by evory means in their power. .
I Tararn are making Btrenuoua efforts to t made their concert next week a success.. The best and most popular of our local, singers are to take part. Mrs R. S. Thorburn is arranging a couple of tableaux. For the dance, which is a groat attraction to many, Mr and Mrs Martin, will, I .understand, provide the music, while Mr Lynch will assist hisi fellow cricketers by acting a3 M.C. 3
