THE BARQUE EVELYN.
WRECKAGE WASHED ASHOKE. (m TeL<SGBAPH,-PBBBS ASSOCIATION,) Wellington, October 2. The pilot station reports that a large ' barque was seen on. Friday at midday. making south, and by one o'clock was out of sight. The northerly gale was then moderating, but a few hours later it came on fierce sontherly weather, thick, and there was no chance of the barque;. which would meet the full fury of the storm, : getting back into the Straits. The pilot crew go out this morning to search the coast from Pencarrow towards Bariug Heads; • The captain of the Eofcoraa states that for two miles the sea was strewn with wreckage, consisting of ship's rails, sextant case, pillows, cushion, and a large quantity of other woodwork ftom the upper part of Contrary opinion exists among seafaring men. Some think the vessel merely bad her deokSflLswept. Others fear she has foundered. jgSj The pilot boat which out to search the beach returned at dark, and signalled that she had found wreckage, but could not make known any particulars.
