ATTEMPT TO ROB A BANK.

Wellington, July 16. Mr Costello, manager of the branch of tho Bank of Australasia at Otaki, reports that an attempt was made on Friday night to rob the bank. He states he discovered a burglar entering the bank, but the intruder exploded something, appp.i- ntly gun cotton, and before he (Costello) recovered from the shock, the offender escaped. The police are investigating the matter.
