THE CHINESS AND THEIR GOVERNMENT.
(By TELEaEAPB,—i'KEis association,)
Wellington, last night. Tub " Evening Post" says," a few months ago we mentioned that Ilio Chinese in Wellington had received a communication from tho Emperor enjoiuins; them not to onter into any business arrangements which would tend to retard their speedy return to their flowery land, should a proclamation "to come back'' bo issued as the result of the difference of opinion which at present exists between the Australian colonies and the Government at Pokin on the subject of immigration. We now loam that another official document has just been received by the celestials of lliisdislrict impressing upon them the necessity of bearing in mind the injunction in the previous communication and stating that it ia quile possibl they will be called upon to either returneto the land of their birth or remain whe re they aio and cease to bo rcgordod as Chinese subjects. A gentlemen who is taking a deop interest in the movements of the Chinese in Wellington informs us that since the last communication hns fnme to hand many of the men havo becunu deepjy concerned at the position of affairs, and are disinclined to enter into new bueioess arrangements."
