WAIOMO.

[Own Correspondent.]

Paroquet .-—Work in this mine is entirely confined to the .No 3 level, where the reef is being driven on both north and south, In the north face the reef is of large dimensions being some five to six feet in thickness and contains large quantities of very promising looking mineral, but no gold has been seen in breaking down. In the southern face the reef is comparatively small, being only about eighteen inches thick, but'shows colore.of gold in breaking down. Numerous stringers of: quartz are seen in tiie drive on the hangingiyall side of the reef.

Golden Gem,—The drlvo on the leader is being pushed ahead, and the Btopea carried forward; gold is frequently seen when breaking down. The Batters—Ten head are still kept going on the Golden Gem dirt, the supply ot which is well kept up, and the prospects of a good return still continue the same. Although the six berdans are kept going for two* shifts grinding the blaukettings &C they are not able to overtake the sopply of the latter. I am given to! understand that the cleaning up will not take place till the end of the month. . Notwithstanding tho very unfavorable i weather we are getting jußt now; a fair amount of prospeetiog is going on principally along the coast line and extend* ing from Brown's bono-uiill to Tapu. I understand that one party has set to work with a cradle in the I'ohui, creek, where fair dish prospects can, lam told, be obtained in the alluvial deposits on its banks.
