Prater, of Dunedin, and Hilton of Auckland, are in heavy training for the £100 foot race on Monday, Considerable betting is going on, ; Dunedin, Wednesday, Butler, charged with murder and burglary, was again remanded till Monday, Wellington, Wednesday. The Government steamer Hinemoa left for Nelson this morning to bring the Nelson Voluuteers, en route for the Christehurch review. She returns here to-morrow night to tnko the Wellington Detachment South, 300 Volunteers leave Wellington and Nelson. Wm. Tarray was with rape this morning, but the Magistrate, afier hearing the girl's statement in crossexamination, dismissed the charge, and commented strongly on the action of the Police in taking up the case.
