Auckland, Wednesday. A gas explosion occurred at the National Bank by the bursting of the con* veying pips* which filled tho room with gas. The messenger went io with a light, and a perfect blaze ensued. His eyes were injured, but no other damage occurred. ;• At the inquest to-day onJohn Soar, the evidence shewed that his manner was .peculiar before committing suicide. He was not given to drink. He complained about losses in mining speculations. A verdict of suicide was returned. ( Nearly all the immigrants per' Orari are engaged. Many , have been sent to Gisborne and Waikato.
