At Ponsonby tho mooting was well attended, and Messrs G. Holaahip, Morton, Noah Wood, and D. Goldio wore tho principal speakers. Tho resolution passed was not one of entire opposition, but of delay. It was as follows i—" That this meeting roeognisos tho necessity of reform in the Constitution of the colony, but protests against, the passage of tho Abolition and Local Government Bills now before tho House unfil tho pcoplo havo had an opportunity of expressing an opinion at tho general election." At Onchunga a mooting was also hold, at which a resolution was passed asking tho Auckland members to rcßißt tho bill clause by clauso and lino by lino, Mr John Lundon proposed and Mr Eastwood seconded tho resolution. Mr Fleming moved, as an amendment, that the meeting approves of tho Abolition schemo of the Government. Mr Givenen seconded tho motion, but it was lost by a majority. A meeting was held at Otahuhu, of tho Franklyn electors, about 60 persons being present, among thorn Mr Lusk and a number of Provincialists. Mr Woodward proposed, and Mr Calvert sreondod, tho following resolution 11 That' this meot« ing cordially approves of the proposals contained in tho Abolition of Provinces Bill, and is of opinion that the oolony will deriro a great and lasting benefit from tho same." Mr Buttlov proposed, as an amendment," That no chango should bo made without consulting tho pcoplo at a goneral election."'. Mr Foley seconded the amendment, and Mr Lusk made a long speech in its favour, after which it was carricd by a bare majority,.
