Mr Woodward proposed, and Mr Calvert sreondod, tho following resolution 11 That' this meot« ing cordially approves of the proposals contained in tho Abolition of Provinces Bill, and is of opinion that the oolony will deriro a great and lasting benefit from tho same." Mr Buttlov proposed, as an amendment," That no chango should bo made without consulting tho pcoplo at a goneral election."'. Mr Foley seconded the amendment, and Mr Lusk made a long speech in its favour, after which it was carricd by a bare majority,.
