ST, MARY’S ROSE SHOW.

AN ATTRACTIVE EXHIBITION. The annual rose show at St. Hall was opened this afternoon. Hie weather was not very favourable for a largo attendance. The season, also, has not been the most ■ favourable for the production of good blooms, yet notwithstanding tins the display. stagec.. both in exhibits and competitive classes is a most creditable one and well worth a visit by all who love the flowers of summer. Airs. Greig has a large show of roses and pot plants, including some beautiful specimens of iris. Amongst the roses the principal varieties are Maharaja'll, Lady Roberts, Isobel (the champion ot last year), Gorgeous and Mrs. David M'Keo.

Airs. T. C. List has a nice stall on which are some beautiful rhododendrons, and a fine bowl of azalia mollis, and a vase of lily of the valley. Mrs. J. Paten has a choice exhibit, including the champion rhse bloom of the show, a fine specimen of Chnssi APXcllar, and a nice bowl of summer chrysanthemums. Dunqan and Davies’ Nurseries have staged a fine showing,. including many beautiful roses and flowering shrubs, including a beautiful salmon azalia mollis, a Clematis Nelly Alosor, and a double rhododendron fatuosum iloraplena. The roses include Margaret Dickson Hamtll, Cupid, and Crimson Emblem (a new variety). ■ > " Air, C. Sanders has a small exhibit, included in which are specimens of hcsehnacultia, epacris, and kahnia latifolia. j Other exhibits of assorted blooms are staged by Airs. 11. Alarfell, Airs. AA . Haddrell, Airs. T. Elliott. Aliss Pelham, Miss Devon is h, Air. R. W. D, Robertson (roses), and the Rev. F. G. Harvie (a bowl of roses). Airs. J. C. Davidson has a splendid “bunch of Paulowina Imperialis. COAIPETITIVE CLASSES.

A sale of work under the 'auspices of the Ladies’ Guild was hold in the adjoining room, there being a palm stall, fancy stall, produce stall, and afternoon tea. ; These were well stocked with beautiful work, and wore in charge of the following ladies:— Plain and fanev stalls.—Ladies’ Guild. Produce stall.—Mesdames Wilson and Coad and Miss Godfrey. Afternoon tea.—Miss Lethbridge, Mesdames Hill, Billing, Perry and Hingston, and Misses Bundle and Ruehe.

A beautiful flower stall for the sale of bloomk was in.the main -hall, under tho charge of Mrs. E. A. AValker.

The show, which is in aid of funds for tho Parish Peace Memorial Sunday School Hall, will be open to-night, when the Boys’ High School orchestra will provide a programme of music. The show will also be open -from two o’clock till five to-niorrow afternoon.
