PUKEKAWA MURDER.

TO-DAY’S EVIDENCE. Per Press Association. , . , AUCKLAND, Noy. 17. In file Pukekawa’ murder trial this morning William Hazard, gun merchant, stated in evidence that he examined Phil Eyre’s gun on August 25. His opinion was that it Jiad not been fired for a month. When he looked at accused’s gun on August 30 he found both barrels had been fired some time previously, the left barrel the more recently. Both barrels had been cleaned. The right.had apparently been cleaned a second time, the left barrel had a black substance in it, not having been thoroughly cleaned. He believed it 1 had been fired within a webk or 10 days. Peters’ cartridges in the gun case contained No. 6 and No. 7 shot. His firm supplied that kind of cartridge to Airs. Eyre for accused at one time. The shot found in deceased’s head agreed with No. 7 shot in weight.
