WELLINGTON, Nov. 9,

A new clause of the Washing-up Bill gives authority for tho sub-divis-ion of section 37, town of Hawera, so as to alter boundaries to permit of. town-planning methods being given effect to in a scheme for the erection of workers’ dwellings. The council is empowered to accent the surrender of portions of its own holding, which art) leased, and to grant new leases. An exchange of land in Hawera to provide a site for a Soldiers’ Club and a peace memorial is authorised. ' The Post and Tclggraph Department’s reserve is transferred to the Justice Department, and the police station site' is transferred to the council, and a municipal reserve is set apart for a memorial and club-house site. A license to occupy is to be issued to tho South Taranaki branch of the B.S.A. The club is. to he controlled by eight members, four from the Borough Council and four from the R..S.A. A portion of the Prospect Road is closed and added to the railway reserve.
