The New share of the profits secured by the Imperial Government'by the sale of surplus wool amounts to ters connected witli me allocation and distribution of this amount ore now engaging the attention of 'the Department of Imperial Supplies, but it is expected that the distribution will not be made for a few weeks yet. SETTLEMENT HOPED FOR. The position in regard to tbo coal dispute is much njore hopeful to-day, for an announcement has been made by the Prime Minister, that it has practically been settled, tlfift a conference mil take place on Saturday, and that Mr. Massey 'will preside, but if the conference is protracted it is l probable that Mr. Hally will act ■as yhaiman in the absence of the Prime Minister.
