During the hearing of a charge of shop-lifting at the London J lady detective gave a demonstration ot “how it" is done.” . Marid Nelder, 64 of independent means, was said tohavestelen a veil worth 33s 6d from Hatred's Stores, and tho chief witness against her was Mies Davies, a stores detective. Invited to demonstrate the tnCrt, Miss Davies' thrust her right arm through a large muff and earned it so that the hand protrouded slightly. Approaching a table, on which lay tho veil, she picked it up, and with a quick movement of the fingers crumpled the material into a ball and drew it inside tho muff. The defendant in the case was bound over, hut ordered to pay 50 guineas costs*
