■ Mr. F. W. Sandford, woodwork instructor at the Mew Plymouth Technical Holloge, and who has also carried on similar classes at Stratford, was on Friday last the recipient of a small token of esteem in the shape of a book accompanied by a cheque from the boys and teachers of tho Stratford School, on the occasion of his terminating his duties with, tho latter. The letter reads; “On behalf of tho boys and teachers I have to ask you to accept the book sent herewith and also a cheque. With the latter you may be able to buy some littlo token for your wife—that is what ■we would like you to do with it. Wo arc all sorry to lose your services. We have for many years looked upon you more ns a member of our staff than as an itinerant instructor in manual work, and we all appreciate tho good work you have done. Speaking personally, I have no hesitation in saying flint tho course of work yon took with our secondary rural boys has been of great value to them, and I know of no centre in New Zealand where that work has been excelled. Furtficr, lam sorry von felt compelled to leave before tho end of the year, when a new Jiigh school will be opened. I wish in conclusion, to thank you for your continuous earnestness as a teacher and loyalty towards myself during the many years you have been with us. —P.
