AUCKLAND POLICEMAN.

HAS BATTLE WITH BURGLAR. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, April 26. A,t midnight, Constable Holt saw a man enter the premises of P. H. Ferguson and Co, stationers, Albert Street. He pursued him upstairs and found the man behind a package. The man threatened to knock his pursuer down, but the Constable sjvitched off bis electric torch and closed with the man just as a heavy steel chisel grazed his cheek. The man was arrested and removed to the police station in possession of articles for which ho will bo required to account. The arrested man during the encounter sustained a fraoj tured collarbone and an injury to his jaw.
