Notwithstanding tho preponderance of women teachers in the teaching profession,” said Miss Coad at a meeting of tiie Wellington Women Teachers’ Association at the annual educational conference, “most of the things women wanted in the profession and brought forward woro lost. This was tho women’s position in regard to tho teaching profession in New Zealand. At present with a big majority they could not carry proposals which they knew would be beneficial to women. Under tho present scheme they could never bo heads of schools, inspectors, organising teachers, or first assistants in the better schools. In the cold light of logic women teachers were in a bad position.
