AWAKINO.
FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT. April. 22, —The- elements were distributed very liberally along this coast at the beginning of the week, but a pleasant change has now set in, yesterday and to-day being simply glorious. Lot us hope tho Prince will sec New Plymouth under just such favourable conditions to-morrow week. ’The sight which will meet the eye of His Royal Highness at Pukckura Park should be. strikingly pleasing;. Tin's district will doubtless bo rep cited at New Plymouth and several ...itives have already left to take part in the display at "Rotorua. Airs. George Dixon and her sister, Aliss AA r areing. leave to-morrow for several weeks’ holiday in Auckland. Messrs. AV. D. Thomson, L. R. Jones, A. Sole, N. R. Bryant, and K. Black, are attending the Tarata Dog Trials, the last-named two having entries there. The Rev. Air. Barnitt . form Uronui celebrated Holy Communion here last Sunday morning. The attendance unfortunately was not as large as one might expect, the reason being, I presume, that church services here (once a month) are so few and far- between that people grow indifferent. Awakino people should bestir themselves in this matter and give the reverend gentleman the support and encouragement ho deserves. If they view tho subject from his standpoint I am sure they null have a greater dcsiro to do so. The morn! tone of a community is naturally higher when duo regard is paid to the spiritual side as well as to tho material, and vice versa.
