THE PRINCE’S TOUR.
WELCOMED AT AUCKLAND. THE MUNICIPAL FUNCTION. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, April 24. The Mayor, Mr. Gunson, presided at tho Town Hall function, where the city’s official address was presented to his Royal Highness. Tho hall was crowded. The Premier and Ministers, and leading military and civil officials, were on tho platform. The Prince, on rising to reply, was greeted with enthusiastic applause. His Royal Highness referred to the pleasure he felt at the warmth of the welcome accorded him uy the city which gave him his first sight of a Dominion that formed one of tho nations who fought in tho war and saw peace realised. He was proud to have boon a. comrade in arms with New Zealanders and hoped to meet many of them during his visit. Ho thanked the people for their welcome and for their loyal . reference to his 1 father, the King. This day would ever live in his memory as a red letter day. Tho Prince’s remarks evoked frequent outbreaks of enthusiastic applause. A military parade late this afternoon completes the public part of the day’s programme.
