A CHILD DROWNED. Per Press Association CARTERTON, Nov. 12. A sad drowning accident occurred at Claroville yesterday, when a 16-month-old baby girl of Air. and Mrs. W. H. Thomas, who was missing at noon, was discovered at night sucked into a water race at a crossing on tho road. Tho child, accompanied by her four-year-old sister, was playing on tho road when she fell into tho race. At an inquest before tho District Coroner today a verdict of accidental death was returned. WOMAN FATALLY SCALDED. INVERCARGILL, Nov. 12. A widow, Alary Jane Buckle, aged 70, was found dead in a boiler full of water. It is surmised that she went to wash in tho copper boiler, the fatality being accidental.
