INFLUENZA EPIDEMIC.
MILD CASES IN WELLINGTON. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Nov. 12. A mild typo of influenza which in some oases is accompanied by gastric trouble is attacking many people in Wellington just now. , A medical practitioner informed a reporter to-day that he had encountered a good many cases of this nature. Tho victims of the complaint suffered from bronchial catarrh and coughing, and the temperature" in some instances reached as high as 102 and 103 degrees. Tliis form of the disease was more or less always present in the community, hut ho had not known it to lit so prevalent as now. There was nothing very dangerous about tho sickness if care was exercised and patients remained m bed until recovery was effected, but by neglecting ordinary precautions there was a great risk that pneumonic symptoms would supervene. Dr. Watt, tho district health officer, said to-day that there was no need for the public" to become alarmed. The evidence pointed to tho position being well in hand and it did not look as if there would bo a recrudescence of the epidemic this year, but ho advised that people should not relax precautions.
