WAITARA.
FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT. September 22.—A W’aitara woman dares the writer of tbo sub-loader on fashions in women’s dress in Saturday’s Herald to walk down Devon Street in broad daylight with his wile, if he has one, dressed in tho fashion ot say ten years ago. She claims that tho question of dress is not all on on© side, and that the men ,aro as much responsible for changes in fashion as tho women, as they like to sea their woinenkind compare as favourably as possible with their neighbours. Mr. R. Gribbon i's a goer. Not only has ho recently built an up-to-date billiard room and excellent business promises of concrete in West Quay,'but since pitching his tent for his own business in the Main Street is converting two shops into one large one, which when finished will bo a decided improvement to tho business block. There have been plenty of people along the river banks gazing intently into the river, but there have not been any record catches of whitebait so far.
