OUT FOR SEPARATION

CAPETOWN, Sept. 20.
Mr. Hcrtzog. addressing a great meeting to welcome the Nationalist delegates and replying to General Smuts’ appeal for co-operation, declared that the Nationalists unanimously desired eventual complete independence from Britain and could-not cooperate with General Smuts, if that meant the abandonment of this their dearest ideal.
Mr. Malan. leader of the Cape Nationalists. endorsed Mr. Tiertzog’e statement and urged Nationalists to work firstly for the annulment of the Colonial Laws Validity Act ; secondly, for tho abolition of titles; thirdly, for the removal of Britain's right to station troops in South Africa; fourthly, tiiat the appointment of GovernorGeneral should only be made after consultation with the South African Cabi-net.—Aus.-N.Z.
