SIR J. AA T ARD APPROVES. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, August 6. Tho desirability of an amendment to thy law to enable women to sit in Parliament was urged upon Sir Joseph Ward by a deputation representing the National Council of Women and its affiliated societies. Sir Joseph Ward, replying, said he was in favour of tho demands of tho deputation. He regarded the measure as being one of importance, which should already he upon the statute hook. Ho mentioned that at the Imperial Conference in 1007 he introduced a motion affirming that women should ho given the right to practise law. This was universally opposed, hut Britain had since granted that right. If there were no other reasons why the request should lie granted, the services rendered by women during the war alone should sttfive. He hoped tho matter would bo sot right next session.
