SALE OF LAND TO SOLDIERS. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, July 31. The Canterbury Lain! Board had before it to-day about 130 applicants for advances in respect of houses and farms under the Discharged Soldiers’ Sett lenient Act, representing a total of about LJ20,000. In pursuance of its policy of protecting discharged soldiers iroiu what it considers excessive land values, the board declined to grant a certain application, after discussing the matter with the vendor. However, an .lour inter, the vendor reappeared before the board and stated that he was prepared to take £3OO less for the property. At the red iced figure the board considered the value was a fair one, and granted the application. _____
