[ Tho greater portion of the surface workings of the South Aline at Broken i Hill has been destroyed. It is estimati ed that the damage is about Looo,oUu. I It will be 18 months to two years bei fore operations can be resumed, and a | thousand miners will be rendered idle for that period.
