[ Tho greater portion of the surface workings of the South Aline at Broken i Hill has been destroyed. It is estimati ed that the damage is about Looo,oUu. I It will be 18 months to two years bei fore operations can be resumed, and a | thousand miners will be rendered idle for that period. It is suspected that the fire "as caus--1 cd bv the J.W.W., as it broke out in four places at once, and the telephones wore tampered with, tho firemen receiving the alarm through the mine whistles.—Aus.-N.Z.
