HIGH PRICES.
THE REAL CAUSE OF UNREST. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright.. (Received July 31, 11.33 a.m.) SYDNEY, July 31. Mr. Mnsscy Greene, speaking at the annual dinner of the Chamber of Commerce, referring to the strike, said that the Government was determined to see the law observed. He warned members of the Chamber against the preveiling unrest caused by high prices, and appealed to them to tackle the problem from the community’s standpoint and thereby check the public outcry for governmental interference. There were great forces working which would sweep away all governments if reinforced by the vast .moderate element that was looking for some relief, j He concluded by saying that he believed the leaders of commerce were j able to do more to settle the unrest ; -than all the governments of Australia combined. The chairman said as evidence of prosperity that the value of the exports between 19T4 and 1918 amounted to 330 millions; the purchases by Britain amounting to 220 millions.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
