Mr. Bates’ forecast for the 24 hours from 9 a m. to-day is as follows: Indications are for westerly strong to gale winds and backing by west to south; the weather will probably prove very boisterous; heavy rain is to be expected • with rivers rising shortly ; the weather will probably become colder.
