GREAT FOOD SHORTAGE.

The effecKof the seamen’s strike is felt in the shortage of foodstuffs. Stocks of groceries and butter are very low. Traffic with Tasmania has practically ceased. Hopes of a settlement as a result of to-morrow’s conferences are not bright. ADELAIDE, June 5. A large seamen’s vote* was recorded. MELBOURNE, June 5. The seamen’s ballot has closed. It was practically boycotted by the men. EXTENSION TO SOUTH AUSTRALIA. (Received June 6, 11.25 a.m.) ADELAIDE, June 6. The seamen’s strike has extended to South Australia. The orews of all vessels arriving are goving notice.
