LOAN AND MERCANTILE. AUCKLAND, May 29. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., report:— On Thursday last at our W estfield Rore sale dairy cows and heifers close to profit brought, best £l6 to £22, others £lO to £ls 15s, backward cows and heifers £6 to £9 10s, empty cows £3 to £6, bulls £5 to £9 10s, yearling heifers £3 5s to £4, calves £1 to £2 2s. At the Westfield fat stock market beef was penned in scarcely average numbers, and competition was keen, with prices better. Choice ox sold to £2 11s per 1001 b., others £2 7s to £2 10s. Cow and heifer beef sold at from £2 3s to £2 8s per 1001 b. In some cases these prices were exceeded. Steers sold at from £l2 10s to £22 2s 6d. Cows and heifers sold at from £8 to £l4 17s 6d. Some of the averages were: Eight steers from Mr. B. Reid, Waerenga, £l9 13s; 16 steers from Mr. E. Bregmen, Waiuku, £l7 15s 6d; 12 steers from Waikato, £lO 7s 6d ; four cows and heifers, same vendor, £l2 17s 6d; eight small steers from Mr. J. Given, Waiuku, £l4 18s 9d; eight small steers from Mr. H. Waring, Taupiri, £l3 ss; nine cows from Mr. W. H. Walker, Matamata, £lO os 6d. Calves came forward in very email numbers. A 15-month heifer made £8 15s; heavy vealers, £5 to £6 10s, medium £3 15s to £4 18s, light £2 12s to £3 13s, lighter fat calves 18s to £2 15s; fresh dropped, 7s to 16s. Sheep: Heavy wethers, £1 19s 9d to £3 3s, medium £1 los to £1 19s 3d, light £1 11s to £1 14s 9d, inferiorly fatted £1 6s to £1 10s 9d; heavy ewes £1 13s 9d to £1 17s 9d, medium £1 9s to £1 13s 6d, light £1 5s to £1 8s 9d, inferiorly fatted 11s upwards. Lambs: Best sold from £1 7s 9d to £1 13s 6d, medium £1 3s to £1 7s 3d, small 18s to £1 2s 9d, inferior 9s upwards. Pigs; Heavy baconers £5 5s to £6, medium £4 5s to £5 2s 6d; heavy porkers £3 10s to £4 4s, medium £3 to £3 9s, light £2 to £2 19s, unfinished £1 4s to £1 8s; weaners, good 15s to 19s, small 11s 6d to 1,45. ’ At Takapuna, on Monday, practically _ everything changed hands. Best dairy cows and heifers, at profit, £l2 15s to £l7 ss, good £9 to £l2 10s, others from £5 10s; empty cows and heifers, £3 to £7 10s; calves, los to £2 15s; fat cows, £9 7s 6d to £l2 15s; bulls, £5 10s.
