A BANKRUPTCY CASE.

CHRISTCHURCH, May 29.

In the Supreme Court, in bankruptcy, an application for immediate discharge in the case of Edmund Peter Gill was opposed by counsel appearing for a Ivaikoura creditor. Counsel said bankrupt had posed as a sharebroker. His debts were £llBO, and his assets nil. This was the second bankruptcy of petitioner. Mr. Justice Herdmian said the circumstances were suspicions. An adjournment could be made, till the next sittings in August, the official assignee to make a Further investigation and supply his Honour with the supplementary report of such investigation. WANGANUI SESSIONS. , WANGANUI, May 28. At the Supremo Court today an elderly man named Neil M‘Neill was convicted of confcnon assault at Hawera and sentenced t 6 12 months’ imprisonment. INVERCARGILL SESSIONS. INVERCARGILL, May v 28. At the 'Supreme Court sittings Nathaniel Charles Bates, found guilty of indecent assault on a married women, was fined £ls and ordered to pay the costs of the prosecution. Thomas Watson M'Gill was acquitted on a charge of carnal knowledge of a girl under sixteen.
