FOUND DROWNED,

DUNEDIN, May 28. Tho body of James Joseph Walsh, reported to bo employed at the ©tago Times’ office, was found in the harbour this morning, close to the Victoria wharf. Deceased attended a meeting last night. It is concluded he went for a walk on the wharf after the meeting, and by some means fell into tho water. There was evidence of his having endeavoured to climb out by means of a rope, which was attached to tho wharf and a pile driver. (Deceased saw service at tho front, and was wounded, and recently returned. Ho was formerly on the literary staff of iho Lyttelton Times, and before that was in tho teaching profession. Ho was 27 years of age. At the inquest on the body of James Walsh, found in the harbour, evidence showed that deceased was present at a meeting of returned soldiers last night, and was last seen about 9.30. When found tho body was fully clothed, including hat and overcoat. Deceased left New Zealand with tho 14th Reinforcements, returning in January. Ho had been wounded in.the knee and gassed. Sineo returning ha had shown signs of nervous affection, but was naturally of a bright disposition. A verdict of found drowned was returned. Deceased’s relatives reside at Opawa, Christchurch. SUDDEN DEATH.

ROTORUA, May 28. George Richard Willis, 25 years of age, a. returned soldier, died suddenly at Wairakei on Thursday. Ho was seized with hemorrhage of the lungs while starting a motor-car. His parents reside at Groymouth.

KILLED BY A TRAIN

CHRISTCHURCH, May 28.

Patrick Gregory was struck by- a train at Waltham Road crossing to-night, and died shortly after admission,-to hospital.

DROWNED IN A POND

WELLINGTON, May 28,

A boy named David William M'Cabe, two years and eleven months, was drowned this afternoon. The child was found at tho back of his father's residence. It is stated that the child was playing in the back yard, and apparently crawled, through a hole in the backfence and fell into a pond.
