After the Telegraph Office closed the following votes were quickly passed:— State forests, £42,637; State coal mines, £289,985; land for settlement, £8089; Public Trustee’s account, £118,559; Government Insurance, £72,051; Government Accident Insurance, £7200; State Fire Insurance, £14,102; State Advances account, £371,856; Native land settlement, £2455; scenery preservation, £7560.
On the Speaker resuming the chair Sir James Allen read the following telegram which he had just 7'ccoived: — “New Zealand prisoners from Germany are now arriving in England in company with British prisoners. Upon arrival their health is the first consideration. They are given 28 days’ leave if fit and then have priority of return to New Zealand. Prisoners from Turkey go to Egypt, whence they have priority of return, either direct or via England.” The House rose at 2.30 a.m.
