SHIPPING PROSPECTS.
OUTLOOK FAIRLY HOPEFUL. PKE ASSOCIATION. WELLINGTON, August 23. Referring to shipping prospects, the Minister in charge of Imperial Supplies said to-day that up till the end of September wo shall probably be able to clear out of the cold stores between 700,000 and 800,000 freight carcases of meat. This will relieve the situation considerably, and by the end of December it is hoped there will ho available for removal of more frozen moat 5,800,000 cubic feet of insulated space on outward steamers. Nothing definite can he said about tho coming year, but the prospects are that the space available for frozen produce from Austrar lasia will ho 26 million cubic feet for the year. This should moan that Now Zealand, with its production, should get about half of the space. If those prospects materialise, we shall bo left at the end of next year in a very little worse position than we find ourselves at present.
