WELLINGTON WOOL SALES. AN UNEXPECTED DROP. PEE PRESS ASSOCIATION. WELLINGTON, Dec. 10. At the wool sale about 23,600 bales were offered. The demand for America was comparatively slack, and prices for finer wools were fully a penny to threefarthings down. Bradford wools were a penny better than last November. The position of prices caused some little surprise. A feature of the sale was the large quantity of wool passed in, showing that growers had an opinion of values which the market did not sustain. The wool sold for patriotic purposes brought £774 and £ll6 was subscribed in the, room for the Mayor’s Christmas Dinner to Soldiers’ Fund. AUCKLAND SHARE MARKET. ariXIAL TO UK&AI.D AUCKLAND, Dee. 10. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report:— At Westfield last Thursday best dairy cows and heifers sold at from £8 10s to £ll 17s 6d; others £5 os to £7 los; cmpty co'.vs, £5 17s 6d to £8,165; aged and inferior cows, £2 10s to £4 10s; bulls, £5 to £9; hoggets, £1 0s 3d. At Albert Yards last Friday heavy draughts made £25 to £34 15?> medium £l7 10s to £27; light harness horses, £9 to £l6; hacks, £8 to £lB 10s; ponies, £4 to £B. On Monday at Papakura best dairy cows and heifers brought £8 15s to £l4 10s; others, £5 10s to £7 los; aged and inferior cows, £3 to £4 ss; bulls, £6 6s to £l4 14s. At Westfield oxen sold to £2 6s per 1001 b.; cows and'heifers, £1 15s to .£2 So; steers sold at from £ll 10s to £2l 15s; cows, £1! 5s to £ls. Calves were panned in large numbers, and sold at improved rates Runners sold at "from £6 12s 6d to £S 7s 6d; heavy suckers, £4 to £4 17s 6d, medium £2 Is to £3 7s 6d, light £1 2s to £1 17s; small and fresh dropped, 4s to 16s. Sheep wine yarded in average numbers, and showed no improvement in prices. Best wethers sold at from £1 6s to £1 Bs, others £1 Is to £1 4s 9d. A six-tooth wether shorn in the autumn, the property of Mr. T. J. B. Stewart, realised £3, being bought by Mr. T. Baster. Ewes, 18s 6d to; £1 3s 6d; hoggets, £1 to £1 3s. Lambs, best £1 to £1 2s 3d, others 17s 6d to 13s 3d. Pigs were penned in full numbers and showed a small improvement in prices.
