Tnirty young revolutionaries, some formerly naval students, Jioarded the Chaosa at dusk and received permission to iuspcvt tho vessel. Suddenly they drew revolvers and seized the commander. They secured tho key of tho magazine and overawed tho crew, killing four and wounding live. They then ordered tho gunners to fire on tho arsenal. Tho gunners elevated tho guns, and only hit tho foreign settlement. ' 'Two effective warships in the harbour refrained from firing on tho Chaosa. hut the shore batteries opened lire. Boarding parties were dispatched, which, however, returned. Three wellplaced shots at daybreak absorbed the oozing courage of tho revolutionaries, who escaped in a launch. TOKIO, Dec. 8. Japan has sent several warships to Shanghai.
