Tho scheme will cost approximately £600,000. The Government is resuming the whole of tho existing bakeries required, from which the present cart delivery will be continued. Later on a central bakery will be equipped with tho most modern machinery, and a Meet of motors will replace forty scattered bakeries with horse-carts. The Operative Bakers’ Union passed a resolution emphatically protesting against tho scheme, which will mean the dismissal of hundreds of workers.
