STATE BAKERIES.
A BIG EXPERIMENT. TO BE TRIED IN SYDNEY. BY ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH. —COPYRIGHT, (Received Dec. 9, 8.50 a.m.) SYDNEY, Dec. 9. The caucus finally endorsed Mr. Hall's State Bread Monopoly Bill. Tho scheme will cost approximately £600,000. The Government is resuming the whole of tho existing bakeries required, from which the present cart delivery will be continued. Later on a central bakery will be equipped with tho most modern machinery, and a Meet of motors will replace forty scattered bakeries with horse-carts. The Operative Bakers’ Union passed a resolution emphatically protesting against tho scheme, which will mean the dismissal of hundreds of workers.
