The State Postmaster received a deputation of business men asking for the non-enforcement of tho increase in the telephone charges. He said the service was run at a big loss, and they must make up the deficiency. The trouble was not extravagant management, but inefficiency of control. STRIKE ON A TROOPSHIP. SYDNEY, Dec. 8. As a sequel to a recent strike.cloven wharf labourers were fined £8 6s each for participating in a strike on a troopship. Justice Heydon said it was marvellous ,thcy were such children that they did not realise their action was equivalent to fighting with tho Germans. STATE WHEAT PURCHASES.
