UNPOPULAR. IMMIGRANTS.
ARRIVING IN AUCKLAND. PER PRESS ASSOCIATION. AUCKLAND. Dec. ft. There was some excitement on the water front at 9 o'clock this morning when a number of wounded men back from Gallipoli assembled to express disapproval of men who might be eligible for military service in England emigrating to New Zealand. The steamer Rerauera berthed an hour earlier than they had expected and, by the time the demonstrators had gathered in any force, the bulk of the passengers bad gone ashore, while the people from the shore and the passengers were intermingled. Some immigrants were subjected to uncomplimentary remarks. Among tbo first-class passengers it was asserted there were twenty to thirty men of military age. None of these were assisted immigrants. All the men spoken to bv pressmen denied having left England'for otnbr reasons than the economic conditions prevailing there.
