A Sydney cable announces the deati of Mr. Richards, M.L.A. for Drum.moyne, who expired suddenly while attending a bowling match.
Private C. S. Newsain, son, of Mr. D. Newsam, New Plymouth, enlisted at Ohakune and is a member of, the Ninth Reinforcements. • .
A London message states that, Mr. Gustave Wand, recently musical director of the Gaiety and Adelphi Theatre, died in the Alexandra Palace internment camp.
At Normanbv on Friday night, the Rev. J. W. Butler, who left on Saturday for Samoa, was the recipient or presentations from the . National- Reserve and from the townspeople. It is notified in the Gazette that his Excellency the Governor has revoked the appointment of Carl Herman Sear forth, M. 8., Ch.'B., as medical officer, for the Island of Niue, Cook Islands. Private J. C. Sumner (B Squadron, Ninth Reinforcements) has been appointed corporal, and Private S. Hoby a lance-corporal. Private S: G. Higgs, also of New Plymouth, has been posted to the Eleventh Reinforcements as a corporal.
Mr. Percy White is a candidate for the vacancy on the Education Board caused by the resignation of Mr. Bradbury. The School Committees’ Association has not yet decided on a candidate, as the executive is visiting Opoiiake on Thursday to hear the views or the committees in that distinct.
