A TRIBUTE TO NEWSPAPER ADVERTISING.
Hr. H. T. Conner, prominently identified with the retail shoo trade of Baltimore and Indiana, has bad considerable experience with various forms of advertising. In speaking of. these experiences Mr. Conner said :—-“We had an electric sign near and within direct view of the best corner in Indianapolis. The sign cost a rental of 90 dollars a month, but wo wore never able to trace any sale to this medium. I have just cancelled six painted display boards in Baltimore. I hardly believe we can trace 100 dollars’ worth of business to these boards, while they cost approximately 2900 dollars. I don't think that car advertising is even worth talking about. Wo advertised a sale and it was a joke. I later advertised in the newspapers and sold my short lines.” Newspaper advertising, Mr. Conner said, is easily the best and most effective medium, as well as least expensive in the long run.
