FIRE IN SYDNEY.
A HOTEL DAMAGED, nr ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH. —COPYRIGHT. SYDNEY. Deo. 5. A fire occurred this morning in the Hotel Australia., A largo portion of tho top floor and tho tower were gutted, while tho glass roof amlAho winter garden were damaged. There was also serious damage clone by water and smoko to the fivo lower floors. There were ninety guests, a number of whom wore spending their Sunday in bod, and they made a hurried exit in their nightclothes. Tho Fire Brigade made a splendid save of tho Commercial Travellers’ Club and other big buildings that wore threatened. The cause of the firo and the amount of damage are ns yet unknown. (Received Dec. 6, 10.25 a.m.) NEW YORK, Dec. 5. The Shanghai correspondent of the Associated Press states that heavy firing was heard in the direction of the arsenal, and it was reported that tho revolutionists had seized tho warships, which wore firing o.i the arsenal, 0 the. warships’ shells fell in the F’oroign Concession. THE SHANGHAI MUTINY. RESTRICTED TO ONE SHIP. (Received Doc. 6, 2.30 p.m.) NEW YORK, Dec. 5. Router’s correspondent states that tho Shanghai mutiny has been confined to tho cruiser Chaoho, which will bo sunk at daylight.
