STRATFORD SHOW.

FINE EXHIBITION OF STOCK. The annual show of the Stratford A. and P. Association was opened on the showgrounds, Stratford, on Wednesday, and, favoured with good weather, there was a splendid Jirst day atemiance. Iho exhibition of stock was a particularly tine one. ’lucre was, it is true, a tailing on in the number of entries, but tms was very slight indeed. Xu tnis respect tile Scrauord A. and P- Association uad not suffered to auytiiing like the same extent as other societies, due undoubtedly to the exertions of its officials, who had left, no stone unturned, to ensure success. A more enthusiastic and willing band of workers it would be impossible to hud, and it was gratifying indeed to. see chat their efforts were appreciated by bleeders. So far as quality was concerned,• it had never been Getter, and compared more than favourably with that seen at tho exhibitions of older established associations, pionng vciy conclusively, os one authority was heard to remark, “that»ii you want to see typical dairy cattle you have to come to Taranaki.” The arangements were all that could be desired, and the judging of the various sections ■ was accomplished without the slightest hitch. All the otnemis worked splendidly, and despite the mul-titudinous-duties they were called upon to perform they were always approachable, all and sundry inquirers Doing treated with every courtesy and receiving every attention. Whore all did so wci? it would be invidious to particu- , lavise, but a special word of praise mud bo given to mu president, ill'. R. Masters, tho secretary, Mr. A. D. Stanley, and his assistant, Mr. Sid. Ward, whilst tiie pressmen on duty at the show wore particularly grateful to Mr, W. P. Kirkwood for the excellent manner in which ho performed the duties of press steward. There were a large number of sideshows on the grounds, and all appeared to be doing good business.
