REREKAPA.
FROM OCR OWN CORRESPONDENT, Nov. I.—Ashasalrcady been notified', the Kiwi Bond Tnnn-ol is finished; that is, with tho exception of a few odd jobs to be done, such as metalling, etc. Still, tho tunnel will not bo available for vehicular traffic until tho end of the year, as, although tho tunnel has taken over two years to complete, there is still some 12 chains of ro&d on the Okau side which has to he made, and on the Makarakia’V alley side only a short piece is available until wider bridges are put in and some formation done. After waiting for a dray road into tho settlement for 20 years it is a disgrace to the department concerned- to have kept settlers without a road so long. The valley will soon lose all the men who aro available for enlistment, four having lately offered, viz., T. J. M‘El- - J. A. ATEldowncy, J. A. Atkinson' and J. 0. Mooro. I learn that Mr. H. Davies, contractor for tho tunnel, has presented J. C. Mooro with a valuable mare, in the event of his being accepted in the mounted troopers. Messrs. Stovons Bros, are erecting a large woolshcd, and will put in machinerv later.
