WAITARA WEST ROAD BOARD.

.MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Waitara, West Road Board was hold on Tuesday. Present: Messrs. H. B. Loppor (iu tho chair), Surrey, Herrick, Turnbull and Tatr. Mr. Copestako again v/ailod on the hoard with reference to Corbett Road, and .offered to find the necessary metal at 3s (id per yard free "of royalty, and also pay wages of spreader if tho board would carry out tho work asked for.It was decided that £25 be offered as the hoard’s contribution towards the Work, tho settlers to contribute tho, balance necessary, tho metal to bo 10ft.‘ wide and lOin. thick. The" letter from tbo Waitara Borough Council regarding tho culvert at junction of Johnston and Raleigh Streets was loft in tho hands of Mr. Tate, to report to next meeting. With reference to the Cross Road, it was decided to take immediate steps to make preliminary appKcation for special loan, and that Mr. Hoppoll be notified to this effect. It was further resolved to grant £IOO towards tho work, provided .that tho loan can bo raised. Incidental expenses and spreaders’ wages to be paid out of the £IOO. Tlte settlers were granted the assistance asked for to metal Te Arei Road to tho corner of York Road.

Mr. Longstnff will bo notified that the board cannot see its way to take any action with regard to repairing Malioetahi Road.

Tho sum of £lO will bo spent on the approaches to the Jlangoraka Bridge, on Lower Tc Aroi .Road. Air. ,1. Burdin will be requested to put in larger pipes at his crossing on Waitara Road. It was decided to call for tenders for metalling on To Arei Road as soon as posible. Air. Clark waited on the board and offered to purchase old timber now in possession of the board.—Air. Tate moved that if the timber is not required by the surfaceman it bo valued and oifored to Air. Clark. Tho motion lapsed for want of a seconder. Three settlers will bo requested to cut tho furze on their road frontages. Air. Tato gave notice to move: “That the svstem of allocating rates on separate road to bo spent on that road be discontinued, ana that tliG rates ho pooled and expended where tho board considers it would be tho most beneficial to the ratepayers.” Tho clerk was instructed to prepare an estimate for advertising and printing by-laws similar to those of the Taranaki 'County. Accounts amounting to £36 16s wore passed for payment.
